About the workshop:

This workshop will briefly address what nonprofit governance and management means as well as what is expected of organizations as it pertains to each.  Specific examples, laws, and concepts will be discussed and practice/implementation tips will be provided to assist organization in ensuring they are not only compliant now, but continue to evolve as the industry and laws change.  Templates will also be provided to registered participants.  

 

About the Presenter:

Erin McClarty | Founder | Notations on Nonprofits

Erin McClarty is the founder and primary writer for Notations on Non-profits, a blog dedicated to discussing legal issues impacting exempt organizations and providing resources to help them navigate the perils that arise from conception to cessation of operations.  In addition to writing, Erin also works with local organizations on a variety of legal issues including governance and formation as well as presenting to different nonprofit, entrepreneur and social enterprise industry groups on contractual, operational, formation, governance, and filing issues.  She's served as Vice-Chair of the American Bar Association's International NGO and Non-for Profit Committee, sits on local non-profit boards and advisory committees and is Chair of the Neighborhood Center's newest micro-grants initiative Seeds for Change.

Erin also serves as legal counsel for Weatherford International Inc., a Fortune 500 company in Houston, Texas.  Erin obtained her Bachelor's Degree from University of St. Thomas and her law degree from South Texas College of Law.

Online Registration deadline is 5pm Tuesday, March 26, 2013.  Mailed checks must be postmarked by Monday, March 18, 2013.  All checks should be made payable to Houston Arts Alliance.
