National Foundation for Celiac Awareness

NFCA logo

Through empowerment, education and advocacy, the  National Foundation for Celiac Awareness drives diagnoses of celiac disease and other gluten-related disorders and improves the quality of life for those on a lifelong gluten-free diet.

We believe in a patient-centered healthcare model that is grounded in science, promotes collaboration and supports a comprehensive approach to health and wellness.

Celiac disease is an autoimmune digestive disease that damages the small intestine and interferes with absorption of nutrients from food. Left untreated, people with celiac disease can develop further complications such as other autoimmune diseases, and some cancers. 1 in 133 Americans have celiac disease, but over 95% live undiagnosed.

The only known treatment for celiac disease is a lifelong adherence to a gluten-free diet.
