Chicago in White is a fresh and hyperlocal interpretation of the all-white flash dining trend!

In 1893 Chicago introduced the “City Beautiful” aesthetic movement to the world. The idea was that beautification of a city in a classical and elegant tradition would increase quality of life.
Once a year, for a few short hours, Daniel Burnham's vision comes back to life as hundreds gather in an elegant yet whimsical celebration of all that is good about Chicago.

Much like the sparkling - yet temporary - buildings that Burnham designed, our guests temporarily appear in an open space in our beloved city, dressed in white.

Attendees of this “refined foodie flash mob” meet at pre-assigned Harmonization Points throughout the city, where the event’s secret location is revealed. Guests will then converge on the location with the evening’s equipment in tow: their own tables, white tablecloths, white chairs, white china, white napkins, silverware and glasses, plus food.

2011
Under the name "Diner en Blanc Chicago" we hosted 1,000 guests at Daley Plaza

Chicagoist We broke the story of the first white dinner in Chicago, and we followed the controversy over the rights to the name - frankly, we were worried whether something would stop the inaugural event. Nothing did, and the white pop-up dinner came off without a hitch last Saturday evening.

Daily Candy On August 27, at 7pm., rain or shine, 1,000 people will show up at a location disclosed a mere hour before… One of those people could be you.

Urban Daddy  “7 in ’11 - Everything That Was Important in 2011” #3 on List! It was a modest proposal. Just show up under the Picasso wearing all white… Your irrepressible suaveness was part of the biggest flash mob picnic with a dress code this city’s ever seen.

NY Mag/Grub Street  All the organizers wanted to do was hold a flash event… So many people tried to score spots that the website crashed. Organizers pointed out that issues were caused by nearly 2000+ refreshes per minute prior to Noon.
