La Señora Research Institute

La Señora reconnects our community to its history via interactive, historically accurate educational programs to intrigue all age and demographic groups; we have significant outreach to low income and minority communities.  Our resources entice the diverse historical community into collaborative endeavors.

The site's anthropological layers unearth changes each Era brought to one small Mexican Rancho.   In the early 19th Century our focus narrows to an artistic and social mecca -- a single Hacienda built on former Rancho land -- the residence of a series of "Old Hollywood" Legends; designed by John Byers, built in the 1920s by one of Edison’s Three Tenors - Jose Mojica’s Music Salon is the site of our chamber music; the 1930-40's  brought the Hacienda Anita Loos's eclectic Santa Monica Canyon Salons;  then Lyle Wheeler (David Selznick's Art Director) made the hacienda his home. The over 600 films produced by these three former residents are screened in our 50-seat theater.
