Media Literacy Task Force
The Media Literacy Task Force was founded by the UK Film Council, Channel 4, the BBC and the BFI and launched by the Rt Hon Tessa Jowell MP, Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport at a seminar in January 2004 to entitled 'Inform and Empower: Media Literacy in the 21st century'. The role of the Task Force was to respond proactively to the provisions in the Communications Act to 'promote media literacy'.
The Chair of the Task Force is Heather Rabbatts, CBE.
The Members of the taskforce are The BBC, The British Board of Film Classification, the British Film Institute, Channel 4, ITV, The Media Education Association, The UK Film Council and Skillset.
