THE MARINA DEL REY ANGLERS
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit sport fishing and conservation club centered in the Los Angeles and Southern California area, participates in marlin tournaments around the world, volunteer countless hours taking inner city children fishing, raises fingerlings in the fish grow out pen now in the marina, and sponsors events and activities to fund other environmental projects and organizations.
Many worthwhile organizations and conservation activities are supported by MDRA events such as the Marina Del Rey Halibut Derby. Proceeds from these events go to support the Fishery Enhancement Project & Youth Fishing Programs.
Other groups supported over the years include: The Boy Scouts Sea base in MDR, The Boys and Girls Clubs of Venice and Santa Monica, HUBBS fish hatchery, NMFRP of Cal State Northridge, United Anglers, and Heal the Bay, IGFA, PORF, and United Anglers. In the past 30 years the halibut derby has given away approx. $250,000 to charity.
Our Mission is to promote the sport of fishing and to be champions of conservation and good sportsmanship.
Along the way we have a lot of fun and go fishing often. We mostly fish saltwater species in Southern California. But we also recognize and reward member anglers who fish any where in the world.
MDR Anglers members were early supporters of Tag and Release of marlin and efforts to ban gillnets in the near-shore waters of Southern California.
