Jefferson County Open Space Nature and History Programs

Discover Jefferson County Open Space through natural and cultural history programs.

Naturalists and educators offer programs at Lookout Mountain Nature Center, Hiwan Homestead Museum, and other Jefferson County Open Space parks.

Jefferson County Open Space was founded as a land conservation organization in 1972. Its mission is to preserve land, protect park and natural resources, as well as provide healthy nature-based experiences. Funded with a one-half of one percent sales tax, the agency contributes to city and recreation district projects and manages 44,613 acres, 28 regional parks, and 230 miles of trails in Jefferson County, Colorado.
