Project Nur and the Human Rights Campaign
Project Nur ("PN") is a "new light on campus" that creates a distinct and alternative Muslim voice: a civic identity grounded in pluralism and progressive thinking and action, one that dispels the perception of a monolithic Muslim voice.
PN’s goal is to establish inclusive communities of Muslim students and students of other backgrounds who want to bring to light human and civil rights issues in the Muslim world. Equally important is PN’s goal to bring to the fore the diversity of Muslim identity, history, and culture, and differences in experiences, beliefs, and perspectives. By fulfilling this civic and cultural mission, PN aims to further understanding between Muslim students and students of other backgrounds.

HRC’s Religion and Faith Program seeks to engage all faith traditions in a deeper dialogue on questions of fairness and equality for LGBT Americans. Through initiatives such as Clergy Call for Justice and Equality, a Seminary & Mentorship program and Putting Faith into Action, HRC has been working to build a diverse faith-based movement speaking out for LGBT justice.
