Apps for Democracy
The District of Columbia maintains vast quantities of data on its operations, including government contracts, crime statistics and economic development. In a bid to make this data more readily available to the public, the Washington DC Office of the Chief Technology Officer is sponsoring a contest, called Apps for Democracy, in which technology developers and the public are invited to create software applications that improve public access to DC government data. The contest will culminate with an awards ceremony for the winning applications on November 13th. Contestants can register and submit their apps at Apps for Democracy.
