A bevy of political events

barack obama

The Democratic National Convention kicked off this week and political events of all shapes, colors and sizes are selling out across America. Convention enthusiasts in Texas will be coming together in impressive numbers at “convention watching parties” this Thursday to see Barack Obama accept the Democratic Nomination and “network with beautifully accomplished individuals in a relaxed environment while enjoying cocktails with an appreciation for great music, great people, and art.” In Washington DC, a voter registration and canvassing initiative is mobilizing people from the metro DC area to help find and register Obama voters throughout Virginia. Elsewhere in Virginia, a Republican Congressman is hosting a Revolutionary Ideas Picnic. And, in New York City, a surprisingly large number of people are meeting in one of the smaller conference rooms at the UN next week for the launch of a book titled “Political Parties in Divided and Conflict-Prone Societies“.  Bases loaded.
